Cross Stitch Magazines

Dec 7, 2020

With the struggles 2020 has brought all of us, sadly, it has also been a struggle for some magazines out there. We lost some great cross stitching magazines like Cross Stitch Crazy, but luckily, there are still many great ones still available to choose from.

Cross stitch magazines are amazing! They are usually packed with patterns, tutorials, you get to learn about designers, and many feature different ideas on how you can finish projects for display. What cross stitcher doesn't love all that?! Today I am going to go through a list of some of the most popular cross stitch magazines.

Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher

If you like folk style designs, you'll love Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher. Publishes four times a year and includes patterns and features various designers.

CrossStitcher

Based out of the UK, CrossStitcher usually features bright and modern cross stitch designs. There is also a digital version available. This magazine releases new editions on a monthly basis.

Stoney Creek Cross Stitch

This cross stitch magazine doesn't usually include any articles but it filled with great patterns. They tend to feature many different designers with various styles, so there is a wide range of design types. This magazine is published quarterly - a spring, summer, winter and fall edition.

XStitch

This is a fantastic choice, that I have been meaning to subscribe to for awhile now! Each edition has its own theme, so it is always a pleasant surprise, and you never know what to expect. It is a digital magazine with new editions released quarterly.

Just Cross Stitch

Based out of the US and probably one of the longest running magazines, Just Cross Stitch is very popular among hobbyists. They also do a special Christmas Ornament and Halloween issue which I always make sure to pick up!

The World of Cross Stitching

If my research is correct, this magazine has actually taken over subscriptions for two other previously available magazines, Cross Stitch Crazy and Cross Stitch Gold. It is a very commonly known magazine and has quite a big following.

Ultimate Cross Stitch

Another cross stitch magazine that publishes quarterly editions. It is packed with patterns of all sizes and every edition has a different theme.

As you can see, even though we have lost some great magazines, there are still plenty to choose from. Do you have a favourite? Are you a subscriber to any? I'd love to hear your opinion of them, or even about a magazine I might have missed. Let me know in the comments.

Happy Stitching!
