About Me
Hello fellow Stitch Wit! I'm Heather, the main Stitch Wit behind all of this. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I've been married for 12 years and have a beautiful daughter Sophie, who is definitely a Stitch Wit in training!
I have been cross stitching on and off since I was a kid, but about two years ago I picked it up again and haven't put it down since. In this time, I wanted to create my own cross stitch patterns (I have a background in graphic design, so merging the two just made sense). The creativity started to flow and before I knew it, I had almost 50 designs!
Then...COVID-19 happened and I ended up with a lot of time on my hands, so I decided to put my web design, graphic design, business skills and love for cross stitching all together and created Stitch Wit. And Voila! Here we are.
I am a big fan of anything that makes me laugh. Stand up comedy, dad jokes, puns, play on words....funny things in general. So you'll find that most of my designs should at least make you smile. I also love to stitch (and therefore design) seasonal patterns.
Currently, all of Stitch Wit's patterns and kits are all basic cross stitches only, with no back stitching.
My Pattern Design Process
As I mentioned above, I have a background in graphic design. This has made me very comfortable using many Adobe products. Most of my designs start by me creating them in either Illustrator or Photoshop. I then save my design as a .jpg and bring it into MacStitch which generates the pattern. It never comes out perfect so there are always adjustments I have to make so the pattern comes out just right. If you have any questions or concerns about any of my patterns or products, please do not hesitate to contact me at hello@stitchwit.ca
About The Shop
Stitch Wit is an online store and does not currently have a brick and mortar location (future goals!) I run the shop on my own and out of my home which allows me to keep my prices down.
